Update To Members

Dear Member,

It has been a long time since we have been in touch because there has been nothing to act on – Dacorum haven’t even bothered to properly analyse and respond to the 2017 Options consultation, while they have blatantly ignored any of our responses when formulating the new Draft Local Plan which is set to be discussed by councillors on Wednesday 23rd September. Full details can be found here:

In a nutshell Dacorum Planning are proposing to build on every single piece of Green Belt to the South of Berkhamsted up to the A41. That is 2236 proposed new dwellings in Berkhamsted, resulting in an increase in size of 24% and will expand the population by over 5000+

As it stands the current time table is:

23rd September – Strategic Planning & Environment Overview & Scrutiny Committee

30th September –  Strategic Planning & Environment Overview & Scrutiny Committee

20th October – Cabinet meeting

18th November – Full Council Approval

Then after that it will be dumped out for ‘consultation’ – yes you’ve guessed it all over Christmas and New Year, but that doesn’t really matter to the Dacorum Planning as it is clearly just a box-ticking/legal requirement that they take absolutely no notice of. Clearly it’s better for them to put it out for consultation at the worst time for the communities they serve to comment on.

On Wednesday, Berkhamsted will be represented by two councillors and BRAG has sent them a letter outlining our initial concerns (letter attached), but feel free to make your feelings known whichever councillor you wish. A full list of Dacorum Councillors can be found here:

Thank you for your support.
