Thank you for participating in consultation on the Council’s Pre-Submission Core Strategy at the end of last year.

We received feedback from over 200 individuals, groups and organisations, equating to over 1,000 separate representations. All of these comments, whether received in paper or electronic form, have now been uploaded to the Council’s online consultation portal and can be viewed at

Since the consultation closed on 7 December 2011 and we have been analysing the comments received and deciding what changes are needed to the document as a result. We have also published a short ‘omissions’ consultation relating to a limited number of map changes, which closes on 28th March.  Councillors will be considering the results of both consultations and any changes required to the Core Strategy as a result of this feedback at the Cabinet meeting on 24th April.  The recommendations of this meeting will then be referred to Full Council on 16th May.  Provided no significant additional changes are made as a result of these meetings, the Core Strategy and other associated documents will be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate at the end of May.

The Planning Inspectorate will then allocate an independent Inspector to preside over the public Examination into the plan.  We expect this Examination to be held in early autumn 2012.

A Programme Officer, Mr Ian Kemp, has been appointed to support the Inspector and help ensure the Examination process runs smoothly.  Ian will contact you directly with further information once the Examination arrangements have been confirmed.
