The Dacorum Draft Local Plan outlines in excess of 20,000 new homes across Dacorum.

We would like to defer the Consultation on the Dacorum Draft Local Plan for two reasons:

1. If approval is given on Wednesday 18 November then the Consultation would run for an 8-week period during lockdown and over Christmas which would not permit sufficient public engagement due to Covid-19 restrictions.

2. Approval of the Draft Local Plan will result in the release of a massive amount of Green Belt land throughout Dacorum for housing development based on housing targets that are contentious.  A delay would allow the latest ONS (Office of National Statistics) figures to be included in the plan’s evidence base and to receive further details from the Government.

Apart from the difficulty of holding a proper consultation in the current climate, it would make more sense for the Consultation to take place once the housing targets and the land requirements have been reassessed.
